Bell Ringing
Littlebourne and Wickhambreaux churches both have bells rung on a regular basis and welcome enquiries from people interested in joining the enthusiastic bellringing teams both beginners and those wishing to begin ringing again.
Littlebourne boasts a six-bell peal, the oldest bell dating back to 1597 and bells are rung every Sunday before the church service. Practices are held most Monday evenings at 6.30pm. Wickhambreaux Bells were cast in 1728 and are the second oldest complete ring of six bells in Kent. They are rung by the all age St. Andrew’s Change Ringers who are drawn from the local and wider community. Practices are varied, challenging and full of fun and laughter. You are very welcome, whether a complete beginner, returner or visitor to join our friendly band. As well as practices the bells are normally rung on the 2nd and 4th Sundays at 9am for the Parish Communion Service. Quarter Peals are rung several times a year and there is also the opportunity to take part in annual competitions, outings and visits to other towers including the cathedral. Full training given to all above the age of ten. Practices on a Thursday 7.30pm to 9pm followed by drinks at The Rose Inn for those who wish. Click here to make contact.
